Abulu electrifies the Belgian scene with a modern funk-rock live act built around groove, contrast, and meaning
Abulu is a five-piece band based in Brussels that crafts a unique fusion of rock and funk igniting stages across Belgium. With soulful vocals, groovy basslines, intricate keyboards, searing guitar riffs, and dynamic drums, each member brings their own flavor to create a soundscape that's as eclectic as Brussels itself.
Their debut album, Out Of The Rain (January 2026), is the soundtrack to their immersive live shows, earning them a growing following and critical attention. Whether itβs a club, festival, or intimate venue, Abulu delivers performances that move bodies, stir emotions and leave audiences inspired and connected.
Abulu create a space where rhythm, message and performance connect with the audience
Formed by seasoned musicians Jon Ustarroz (guitar) and Pau Iborra (drums), Abulu first made its mark by reinterpreting funk and rock classics. Their tight, explosive live chemistry still defines the band's performances today.
The arrival of vocalist Lucia Fernandez marked a turning point. Her powerful, soul-infused voice carries engaged lyrics, giving emotional depth to music designed as much to move bodies as to spark reflection.
With keyboardist Francesco Sicurella and bassist Dani joining the lineup, Abulu has expanded its sonic palette. Blending vintage textures while embracing a contemporary vision, the band creates eclectic, dynamic compositions that speak to dancers and attentive listeners alike.
Fully independent and proud to represent the Belgian music scene, they write, record and produce their own music. Their debut album, Out Of The Rain, is now promoted through immersive live shows that celebrate rhythms, dynamics and feeling, making each show an unforgettable journey.
